JUNE

A whirlwind month & exciting news!

Hi everyone,

We apologize for the delay in getting this newsletter out – June has been a whirlwind! Our founder spent (almost) the entire month in New York City, attending a series of events that we're thrilled to share with you.

Championing our Oceans at the UN

The month kicked off with World Ocean's Day at the United Nations. We were honored to be there alongside our long-standing partner, Oceanic Global. We even brought along our talented friend, Lomijoh, who performed a moving piece during the event.

The highlight? A dynamic moderation duo: Bailey Bass, known for her captivating role as Tsireya in Avatar, and Derek Blasberg, who injected humor into an event that necessarily addressed the concerning state of our oceans.

Legendary oceanographer Sylvia Earle delivered a powerful message that resonated deeply: "Whales have the largest brains in the world, they don't destroy the world, and we think we are so smart." These words perfectly encapsulate the urgency to implement Environmental Intelligence (EI) solutions – which are at the core of our work.

A Month of Collaboration and Inspiration

Our time in New York wasn't limited to the UN. We had productive meetings with academics, including archaeologists from Columbia University who play an integral role in our E.I project. We reconnected with old friends, visited our former diplomatic team (always champions of our work!), and had the privilege of attending an intimate dinner hosted by Angelina Jolie at Atelier Jolie in honor of our dear friend Giles Duley who cooked a beautiful and delicious meal for us (learn more about his work here).

Perhaps the most striking aspect of the month was witnessing the transformation of New York City. It's a place of both familiarity and change, a powerful reflection of the challenging times we live in. However, as the saying goes, "challenges are opportunities," and this sentiment fueled our energy throughout the month.

Back in Paris and Looking Forward

Upon returning to Paris, we celebrated the launch of IRK Human magazine, to which our founder is a proud contributor.

As we head into summer, our focus shifts towards writing, content creation and of course as always research. We have a lot of exciting things in store for you, so stay tuned!

To close this busy month (and if we had to pick a soundtrack for how busy June was… it would surely be this song! See here)

This weekend will be dedicated to celebrating togetherness and infinite expressions of love, a time to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community's history, resilience, and ongoing fight for equality.

Thanks for your continued support.

With love,
The WHo CAREs!? Chronicles team
